Purple with Green Flash — September 18, 2011

Purple with Green Flash

I was looking through my stash the other day when I came across Maybelline Water Shine Diamonds Mauve Crystal. It’s a kind of dusky lilac with silver sparkle. I wasn’t sure on the colour, I wished it was more pink so I took and old bright pink I received in some make up set and I added a few drops. This is what it looked like after two coats.

I then added a coat of a 2True shade 10 which is a sheer lilac with a strong green flash. I couldn’t get the green flash to show up on camera on the nail but here’s a bottle shot which shows it:

Blue and Purple Eyes — September 15, 2011

Blue and Purple Eyes

The other day I had stayed in all day in my pyjamas so I didn’t bother putting make up on. However at about 9pm I had this sudden urge to put some on so I did, and came up with this.

And here’s a close up of an eye for you:

For the eye look I mostly used shadows from the 120 pro palette that you can get off of ebay here.

I used the colours circled in Pink on the lid, and then the colours that are circles in Purple were blended into the crease.

For the purple under the eyes I used Fishnet and Ransom (circled in red) smudged on with a small brush. They are from the Urban Decay Deluxe Shadow box.

For a highlight I used an eyeshadow by Natural Collection called Snow storm

Snow storm is a very pale whitish blue with a subtle blue duochrome finish. I also put it in my inner corner.

I then added mascara and eyeliner to finish the eyes.

On my face I used Mac Prolong wear in nc15, set with Rimmel Stay Matte powder in translucent.

The blush I used is circled in Blue and it is from the coastal scents blush palette.

Finally for lips I used NYX Margarita:

And then topped it off with GOSH Light n shine in 05 Plum:

I chose this picture as you can slightly see the blue sparkle. However it is much more easily visible on the lips so I thought it would compliment the blue/purple on the eyes.

That’s all for now, hope you liked it’

Graduation Nails — September 11, 2011

Graduation Nails

On Friday, I graduated from University. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do for it, but my gown was black and green and I was planning on wearing a white dress so I knew it had to work with them. Because I had enjoyed wearing a french tip to my interview I decided to do it again, but slightly different.

For the base I used Revlon Lunar a plain black creme that is nearly opaque in one coat, but I did two for good measure. It dries really quickly and with a really high shine.

For the  Stamping I used Color Club Worth the Risque and Konad Plate M44

I really liked this and people told me it looked awesome.

Interview Nails — September 9, 2011

Interview Nails

On Wednesday I had an interview for a Business Marketing so I was trying to decide what would be best to put on my nails. At first I was planning on just doing a nude colour with maybe a little Konad, but then I decided to do a french manicure instead.

I didn’t just want to do a plain nude-ish colour so I decided on No7 Pearly Pink:

Pearly Pink looks creamy in the bottle, but that doesn’t translate to the nail. Instead it is a sheer pink/orange pearl which I thought would look awesome for under a French manicure.

For the tip I used Konad Special White and the swirl design from plate M56:

I really liked this, and in fact I haven’t been able to sensibly wear french tips for a while as one of my nails would always snap before I got the chance. As you can see my pinky finger is the last one to snap but it’s just about long enough for me to get away with.

Plust a French Manicures always strikes me as kinda classy and elegant, so I figured it was a good choice for an interview.

Anyhow, I hope you enjoyed looking at it,

Calvin Klein Emerald Green —

Calvin Klein Emerald Green

The other day I fancied wearing green. I checked out all of my greens ( there really aren’t that many, which I’m sad about) and finally decided to wear  Emerald Green by Calvin Klein. Its a gorgeous Emerald Green Shimmer

After putting it on I decided I wanted to add an accent ring finger, but wasn’t sure what to add to it. I then remembered some random nail varnish that my Mam had bought me somewhere for 50p.

This is by Technic and is a sheer golden tinted polish with glitter in it. Some of the glitter is pale gold and some is pale green which is why I thought it would look good on top of Emerald Green.

Here they are together, and I was really happy with how they turned out:

It’s slightly blurry as it shows the green glitter on the ring finger better.

I love getting nail varnish as present, I love the surprise of trying new ones and not knowing what they’ll be like. I purchased Emerald Green from Fragrance Direct but sadly it’s not on there any more.

Purple Heart & Holographic — September 7, 2011

Purple Heart & Holographic

I had an interview for a new job earlier today and I wore a french manicure with a twist for it so I’ll be posting that either later today or tomorrow. This is another old look but I think it’s pretty cool so I figured I’d post it to see what you think.

Purple Heart is a gorgeous purple/green duochrome from GOSH.

I loved this colour, and the sun was out the day I put it on so I decided to add some holographic stamping.

I added the geometric stamping from plate M64 in Color Club’s Worth the Risque, and then Revlon’s Top Coat. This looked AWESOME in the sun and I really loved wearing it.

Here’s a slightly blurry shot that shows the sparkle better:

That’s all for now but there may be another post up later today!

Do you own Purple Heart or Worth the Risque? What are your thoughts on them? Have you worn them together?

Bright Pink Paisley — September 5, 2011

Bright Pink Paisley

Firstly I’m gonna have to apologise for the terrible quality of this picture (and my nails!), it’s really old but it’s the best one I took of this manicure:

The color I’m wearing is Rimmel Lycra Pro Coral Queen, stamped with Konad Black, and m64. I loved wearing this and my mum said she loved it!

Barry M Cyan Blue —

Barry M Cyan Blue

Okay, so while I was at said Folk Festival that I mentioned yesterday, I bought some gifts. One of them was a ring that was a gorgeous cyan blue colour.

As I was buying it it occurred to me that it might be pretty similar in colour to Barry M’s Cyan Blue. So when I got home I promptly painted my nails to compare:

Isn’t it an awesome ring! I bought a green one as well but this one is my favorite of the two. I was really pleased that it matched one of my favorite nail varnishes.

Barry M Cyan Blue is a lovely color and the formula is awesome! It is perfect in two easy coats and it always dries quick and super shiny:

That’s all for now but I may try and put up another post in a bit.

Barry M Block Orange — September 4, 2011

Barry M Block Orange

The other day I was feeling a little down so my boyfriend said I could buy some new nail varnish (he’s awesome!). I’d been fancying Barry M Turquoise for a while but it either wasn’t in stock or I didn’t have the cash 😦

So that day I knew that I was definitely gonna get that one (which I used forTurquoise Tiger), but Barry M was offering 2 for 4.99, what other one to get?

I eventually decided on Block Orange, a really bright, slightly red orange:

The colour is red-ish but not quite as red as this picture shows it looks closest to the colour of the bottle. In real life it looks more like this:

But again, not quite as red as it is showing up.

This applied really well and it took 3 thin coats to be opaque. But I wasn’t really surprised by that as it’s got a slightly jelly finish. Plus, it was really shiny and eye catching and I loved wearing it. Anyone tried this colour? What do you think of it?
